With the Summer months upon us, the Knoxville Football Club has seen a huge increase in their Summer Program participation. The blazing temperatures and long hours can’t keep the players away, as the first two weeks of Summer have seen incredible numbers at Lakeshore Park.
Saturday mornings have been the club’s "Dutch 4v4 Day", and the participation has been wonderful. The first Saturday saw 46 kids participate in the program, while 65 came out this past weekend. The "Dutch 4v4" philosophy is to get players playing with different teammates, getting tons of touches on the ball, and encouraging competition in a fun and engaging environment. The program runs from 9:00-11:00 every Saturday morning until July 21st, and the overall Summer winners will be rewarded with prizes from the Soccer Post.
The fun occurs on Saturdays, while the hard work and development comes on Mondays and Thursdays for Crush players. Even more impressive than the 4v4 numbers are the flocks of Crush players coming to the Summer Technical Training Sessions during the week. Last week, the first of 6 weeks of free training provided by the club, saw wonderful participation. The sessions are focused to give intense technical work in an hour and fifteen minute session (6:30-7:45 at Lakeshore Park), challenging the players to push themselves for the approaching Fall season. So far we have had the following turnout:
Monday, June 18th- 52 participants
Thursday, June 21st- 49 participants
Monday, June 25th- 82 participants
Finally, perhaps the most impressive turnout this summer came last week (June 18-22), as we held our Crush Summer Camp, held at Lakeshore Park. With 78 participants from the ages of 5-15, the turnout shows the growth our club is experiencing. Our camp participants were given great coaching and attention, and there were loads of laughs to go around.
The Knoxville Football Club would like to thank all of their participants in these programs, and encourage them all to continue taking part in all that is provided. These numbers are a reflection of the dedication and drive that the Crush members possess, and only look to continue to grow over the coming weeks. Through camp, small-sided games, and technical training, the Crush staff is trying to meet each and every need of today’s player; and they only hope that more players come out and take advantage.
